Contrary to some beliefs, the Chamber of Commerce is not a bank. Believe it or not, the Chamber office receives several calls a year asking to speak to our loans manager!
But when asked what the Chamber of Commerce actually IS, there is no simple answer. In fact, we have a saying amongst the Chambers in BC: “Once you’ve seen one Chamber… you’ve seen ONE Chamber!”. A Chamber of Commerce must fulfill the needs of their particular city and not many Chambers have exactly the same mandate.
Here in Kamloops, we provide three services. First we are an information centre; second, a provider of benefits to our members; and third, we are an advocate for small business to all levels of government.
